Leaving Atlanta, MT was toasted and I was driving. We headed out of town on I-85...or at least I thought we were. I mean...it was I-85/I-75 for most of the way and then somehow it was just I-75. The problem with this was that I had been driving 2 hours at about 85 mph before I realized this.

"Oh, shit" I said as I looked at the map and tried to wake MT for 5 minutes. We headed down through Gump Land to Talahassee, FL and got on I-10 that way instead of the originally planned route down I-85. It added about 3 hours to our trip to Houston, which that bothered me to no end. You see, I was supposed to meet someone the next day at a restauaunt in Houston and now I was going to be late.

On our way back home we hit several big cities much like we did on the way down. Our first stop was Pensacola Beach. We drove out to a restaurant on the beach, the place was crazy. Kids everywhere, people drunk and having fun. We found this great seafood place right on the beach, which was also hosting a Beach party for a local college. After the meal we went for a walk on the white beaches and MT grabbed some sand for his collection.

Our next major stop...which was a major disaster area was Winnie, Texas. All we wanted was a stupid Blizzard™ from Dairy Queen®. Not only was the Dairy Queen in dismay from somone running into the side of it, but the service was horrible!!. Our Blizzard's weren't even shakes. To top it off as we came walking back to MT's car we noticed these men towing a truck with a lawnmower. It was quite a site and we just shook our heads in dismay.

In Houston we hurried to the spot where I was supposed to meet an Internet friend. When we arrived at Billy Blues I gave her a call. No answer. We thought she might be out, so we got a bite to eat. Three hours later I finally got her father, which told me she was out somewhere. To say the least I was mad. Even so, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and found a place to stay the night.

That night I managed to get her on the phone. After a little talk I managed to get her to come down and pick me up. Cool. We went back to Billy Blues and had dinner. There was only one problem with this whole picture. She brought a friend along. It was like I was observing them, not able to intereact. I hated it...I didn't get to talk to her at all. Getting back into her pit of a car we went back to the hotel and said goodnight for the evening. I wanted to leave right then back for Denver.

The next day I tried to get her to come down alone. After about three hours I hung up on her and MT and I went down to Galveston for the day. I was so mad....

At Galveston we got out our bikes again and rode along the beach. It was so nice...I needed this. After riding for some distance we stopped at Joe's Crab Shack and grabbed a bite to eat. This was probably our most interesting meal. We ate the whole basket of crackers waiting for our meal, MT cut himself on his crab, I had a fake fish fall on my head, the whole restaurant danced the Macarena, and our waitress was in training. Boy did we give her some on the job training.

We arrived back at our Hotel and packed up to leave. We didn't want to stay another night in this pitiful, filthy, humid town called Houston. We celebrated when we got out of Houston, but it would be another day before we left Texas. One of the most pleasant restauants we were in was PizzaHut® in Vernon, TX. They not only feed us good pizza, but let us use their phone connection for their credit card machine to get e-mail. Nice guys huh? We thought so.

The next major stop was Sante Fe. We had breakfast there. Just outside of town we stopped to look at our map. While doing so, MT noticed this man running toward us. We weren't sure what to think...this guy just appeared out of no where. So we stopped and cracked our window to talk to him. It turns out he had just hit a deer and totaled his car. The picture is to the right. We gave him a ride into town and then went to eat.

Up from Sante Fe is was a short trip to Denver compared to what we've driven. We decided to go through the Sand Dunes in Southern Colorado. Why you ask? MT wanted more sand for his collection. heh. To the right is a pic that shows water, the sand dune, and the Rocky Mountains. Quite a site.

Well we were nearing the end of our trip. We were pissed as hell at each other (remember the stereo bit) and we were just quiet. All we wanted to do was get home. It had been a week and a half. Closer and closer we got to Denver, then finally we saw the city and cheered up. We got to MT's house, I was hardly capable of driving but we couldn't find his wife Steph. So we rested a bit and then went out looking for her....we found her riding a bike just a short ways from MT's house. She was a life saver. I went home and slept...and slept...and slept.
